Help Bring Ranked Choice Voting to Melrose
Ever walked out of the voting booth feeling stuck choosing the "lesser of two evils" — or worried that backing the candidate you actually like might split the vote and help elect the one you don't? Ranked choice voting (RCV) is a simple fix.
Instead of marking just one name\, you rank the candidates in order of preference. If no one wins an outright majority\, the last-place finisher is eliminated and their votes shift to each voter's next choice\, repeating until a candidate clears 50%. The payoff: more honest choices at the ballot box\, winners with genuine majority support\, and an end to the "spoiler" problem — all on a single ballot.
Cities and towns across the country are adopting RCV for local races\, and Melrose can be next.
